Hi there👋🏻! I’m Joey, the founder of SMELLGRASSWITHJOEY, a boutique fragrance shop specializing in essential oil based perfume.

My journey to fragrance started with a magical experience at a yoga studio. I was in a meditative state (some call it Yoga Nidra), and the scent in the room along with the sound evoke a strong visual experience within me.

The whole time, my eyes were closed, but colors and patterns were flowing in and out of my vision, as if that was the most natural way my brain should perceive smells and vibrations. That was when I discovered the power of scent. It can transform the way we perceive and interact with the world.

Carefully crafted scent has the power of evoking long lost memories within us. It wires up a new framework in our brain. Under that new framework, we start to see things from a different perspective and let go of things that were bothering us or causing us chronic pains.

That’s why I went into a long phase of experimentation, during which I learned about all kinds of different essential oils and how they can help our body reconnect with the world in ways that are most meaningful and rejuvenating.

Each scent has a little story behind it. I like to believe that, when a new scent is created, a little gem soul is born along with it. That’s why I’ve written a short poem for each of them to help express themselves. Each one will take you on a unique journey, and I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I enjoy crafting them for you.
